I just read an article about a local woman who has been in staying in shelters and various family members homes for two years. Her two year old has lived this way her whole life. The part I don't really get is that she now has an infant too. My heart breaks for these children. The point of the piece of course was that we are not doing enough for these people. I realize she had a tough beginning but you would think that would be reason enough for her not to want to bring kids into this kind of life. I am single and managed to get to 39 (ugh) without having kids. Of course being single at this age has made me pretty selfish, but thankfully it hasn't extended to this area. I think this entire thing is very sad.
